MaryAnn D. Miller, 87, of Fayette, died Sunday, February 3, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Home in West Union.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fayette, Iowa with Rev. Herbert Mueller, III. officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery in Fayette. Friends may call for one hour preceding services at the church on Wednesday. Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Fayette is in charge of arrangements.
MaryAnn Doris, daughter of Helmer and Olina Lein Olson, was born July 19, 1925, in Erdahl Township, Minnesota. She attended grade school in Erdahl and Elbow Lake schools and went on to high school in Fergus Falls. She went to work as a nurse’s aide. On November 4, 1944, she was united in marriage with James R. Miller at the Methodist Parsonage in Fayette, Iowa. She continued to work as a nurse’s aide and worked for thirty years at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette and also for a time at Prairie View. She also worked at Upper Iowa University in Fayette. MaryAnn had been a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fayette and the Ladies Aid, and was also a member of the Fayette American Legion Auxiliary. MaryAnn became a resident of the Good Samaritan Home in West Union on January 8, 2013.
In addition to her husband, James of Fayette, she is survived by one son, Rodney (JulieAnn) Miller of LaCrescent, Minnesota; one daughter, Sandra (Ronald) Thompson of Maynard; seven grandchildren, Michelle Thompson, Janelle (Todd) Pityer, Jamie (Buddi) Thompson, Jackie (John) Revard, Jeff Miller, Alex schomers, and Jade Miller; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Lillian (Lamey) Thorstad of Minnesota; and a sister-in-law, Ruby Olson of Minnesota.
MaryAnn was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Jessica Miller; five brothers, Clarence, Raymond, Lawrence, Virgil, Carroll; and one sister, Bernice.
